Adobe is making a beta version of Photoshop CS3 available on it’s website for public download. It’s free if you have a Photoshop CS2 serial number, or you can try it for 30 days free if you don’t.
Although the core is still the same photoshop we know and love, CS3 is a huge update. Our favorite new feature is a collapsable palette system similar to InDesign’s. Photoshop goes a step further however by allowing multiple tiers of collapsed menus which can be grouped together however you like. In their collapsed state they are represented by icons that make finding what your looking for faster and easier.
The new version is optimized for macs with the new Intel chips, but runs fine on our G5 with a Motorola processor. For a full demo of all the new features, check out Lynda.com’s quicktime videos.
